The information about the temporary exposition “The History and Culture of Khorezm”

After independence there were implemented so many important works in Khorezm region. Especially, the works which were done during the last 3 years can be samples for them.

The president of the republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the decree about “The development of the tourism in 2013-2015 in Khorezm region.” This decree was signed in order to develop the usage of tourism and increase the productivity, and to make it more comfortable for foreign and native tourists to be acquainted with rare historical-cultural and architectural monuments of Khorezm region. 

The program of developing tourism includes developing infrastructure of tourism, building and reconstructing the touristic structures, improving the infrastructure of touristic transportation, perfecting touristic transportation and services, producing new directions and services.

According to that decree, in March 20, 2013 the new decree of the president № PQ-1940 was adopted. Later, in order to provide the implementation of the decree Cabinet of Ministers declared its new decree №511 in august 14, 2013.

According to the decree of Cabinet of Ministers №511 in august 14, 2013, studying the rich history and cultural heritage of Khorezm, and advocating them, were devoted for serving foreign tourists culturally, and modern.

Currently, there are 6 vacancies in the temporary exposition “The History and Culture of Khorezm”, in 4 of them the specialists are working. The following vacancies are opened:  

  • The manager of exposition
  • Main specialist
  • Fond keeper
  • Programmist
  • Guide-translator
  • Janitor

 

 

 

According to the first paragraph of this Resolution, proposals for establishment of exposition demonstrating history and culture of Khorezm, based on the funds of Khorezm regional Museum and Avesto Museum (located in Khorezm  Mamun  Academy), were approved.

Due to the conception which was developed for the exposition of this museum, this exposition was created by including a total of 12 units.

According to this, the exposition is planned to consist of the following sections.

1 Section I. Primitive and ancient farming culture of Khorezm

2 Section II. Development of ancient state system and urban culture of Khorezm

3 Section III. Zoroastrianism, in  ancient Khorezm

4 Section IV. Khorezm history and culture of the early medieval period.

5 Section V. Khorezm on the Silk Road

6 Section VI. The development of Khorezm in the Middle Ages. Flourishment of science and culture, trade and crafts

7 Section VII. Khorezm Mamun Academy

8 Section VIII. National liberation movements of Khorezm against Mongols

9 Section IX. Amir Timur and Khorezm in Timurids period

10 Section X. The Khanate of Khiva in XVI-XIX centuries

11 Section XI. Political, social, economic and cultural processes in XX century

12 Section XII. Khorezm region in the years of Independence

From Section I the ancient history (from the Stone Age to the BC VIII century) of Republic of Karakalpakstan which is considered to be as a neighboring region to Khorezm is reflected. The part of this section is devoted to this exhibition of the stone and bone tools which were found by S.P.Tolstov during his archaeological research. Futhermore, bronze jewelries belong to Bronze period which was discovered at the Meshekli fortress by scholars of Khorezm Mamun Academy are exhibited.

Section II. Development of ancient state system and urban culture of Khorezm. In this part,the history of Khorezm from BC VIII to IV-V century is highlighted. In this section, especially the archeological foundings studied from fortresses in an antic period and heritages are placed.

 

 

 

Section III  Zoroastrianism  in ancient Khorezm.

This part gives information about appearance of Zoroastrianism and historical events of development of this religion. Also this section consists itself the items, ceramic statuettes which  are related to this religion and  information about ancient  Khorezm writing.

Section IV History and Culture of  Khorezm in early middle century.

The history of  Khorezm  from early middle century to the advent of the Arab is expressed in this section. And also data about fortress is involved in this part.

Section V Khorezm is in Great Silk Road 

There are facts about values of   Khorezm in Great Silk Road and its branches from the second BC to sixteenth BC.

Section VI

The development of Khorezm  in the middle century.  And  the  flourishing of its Science and Culture, Trade and Crafts.

This section contains itself the information about branches of culture, its development of political and economic fields at the same time, the appearance of the state of  Khorezmshahs  and their tradition and architecture .

Section VII. Khorezm Ma’mun Academy. The history of the development of science in Khorezm in the eleventh century was identified in this section, and there was given information about the scholars, who worked in this academy. As well as it were given examples about medieval manuscripts and things, used in medicine and herbal study.

Section VIII. National liberty movements of Khorezmians against Mongolian invaders. It was highlighted the events of decade liberty struggle of Jaloliddin, who was the last representative of Khorezmshahs against Mongolian invaders. In this section, it were submitted patterns of ceramics, which were found in the inns on the caravan route, called Meshekli..

Section IX. Khorezm during the reign of Amir Temur and Temurids.  In this section it was highlighted the political and cultural life during the reign of Amir Temur and Temurids, as well as, the silver coins, seals and the lithography of the work “Khamsa” by Navoi have been set in this section.

Section X. Khivian khanate during the sixteenth and nineteenth century.  It was given information about the foundation of the khanate, its development, culture and architecture. As well as, in this section, it was noted the reasons of invasion of the khanate by the Russians and its decay. This section also consisted of the displays such as property patterns, silver coins, clothes and labor tools, belonging to the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries.

 

 

 

Section XI. XX century political, social, economic and cultural processes in Khorezm. This section provides information about  the  dissolution of the Khanate of Khiva, and together with the emergence of new social movements,   XXSR state which had functioned for 4 years. As well as the establishment of the Soviet governor in the country, repression and the policy of cotton, and historical information about the processes that occurred during the war years, the Aral Sea and the process of disaster coverage are enlightened. In this section, XXSR currency, the twentieth-century products that were made of ceramic and copper ,such as carved wooden door exhibits.


Section XII. Khorezm region during the independence period. In this section data about achievements of Khorezm after the independence, functioning foreign joint ventures, culture, education, sports areas are cleared in detail.


If the total stock of exhibits comprised in the exhibition fond are grouped according to prepared materials : 68 ceramics,20  stone artifacts ,76 exponents made of different materials, (iron, copper, bronze, silver), 9 glassware, 18 wooden objects,52  paper materials, 18 artifacts made of natural silk or synthetic fiber, including 6 fabrics exhibits.

Today, the history and culture of  Khorezm permanent exhibition in the halls of a total of 261 exhibits, the majority of them are in different periods of archaeological findings. In addition to the exposition of the museum, the money is much more significant part of the coin (37).  Also rare books in this exhibition (15), coat of  men and sleeve of women made of fabric folds of the nineteenth century until the early twentieth century(2 pairs), ceramic statuettes (6), jewelry (12 different types) are placed.
