It is known that today Khiva, in particular, the development of tourism on the territory of the state museum-reserve "Ichon Kala", which is the ancient part of the city, and the improvement of the quality of services provided to foreign visitors, as well as the standard of living of local residents living in the museum. reserve., repair of communications, drinking and sewerage, gas supply in the city. According to him, on the territory of the museum-reserve old water supply and sewerage systems are being excavated and completely repaired by the state. Dilmurod Bobzhanov and Shokhrukhmirzo Ismoilov, scientists of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the Khorezm Academy of Mamun, regularly take part in archaeological excavations so as not to damage millennial artifacts and cultural monuments underground. The well, which was closed several years ago, was reopened yesterday during renovations at the Ichon Kala State Museum-Reserve in Khiva. However, its unusual appearance raises various assumptions. This is due to the fact that the well has the same diameter in all parts, i.e. 2.60 cm, without tapering from bottom to top, like other wells. Depth 5.60 cm. According to ancient tradition, the base of the well, that is, part of the foundation, has a wooden base made of wood, mulberry or gujum, which is a common occurrence in Khorezm. The thickness of the wood is about 16 cm. The walls of the well are made of baked bricks measuring 25x25x6 cm. There are rhombic marks on the surface of the bricks. The well was built about 100-150 years ago, at first glance it is difficult to guess what it was used for in the past, there are two hypotheses about the well. The well was dug and used for water intake due to the need for water in the construction. The bricks used for the wells are very well preserved to this day, and in shape and size they are similar to the bricks that were used in the construction of madrasah at that time. From this we can conclude that in fact the age of the well dates back to the time when the Polvon Kori trading house was built, and the last 100-150 years. However, it should be noted that in those days it was a little unnatural to dig a well in the center of the district around the capital, where the main administrative buildings are located, and to draw water from it for various purposes is predictable. This is due to the fact that the diameter of the well is much larger than that of conventional water wells. That is, it is impossible for a prisoner to get out, leaning his shoulders and feet against the walls. In addition, during the cleaning of the well, a kettle was found in it. However, no underground dungeons were found in any of the monuments of the history of Khorezm, however, at present, both hypotheses have no foundation. It is known that in the past, wells were dug in such areas to collect rainwater. In order to come to a definite scientific conclusion in this regard, scientific research is currently being carried out.
